Centerburg preparing to host team duals

Centerburg High School was selected in December to host the Division III Region 21 regional wrestling dual team tournament set for Saturday, and the school is preparing to host 15 teams.

Freddies’ Hoeflich competes overseas

Fredericktown junior Aria Hoeflich recently returned from a trip overseas where she spent a week abroad competing in an international softball tournament on a team with players from across the country, with her team taking seventh out of 16 teams.

Highland withstands Fredericktown charge

In a game that looked like it was all but over after Highland scored the first 16 points of the night, Fredericktown rallied to take a lead into the fourth, before Andrew Wheeler had 14 in the period to close the door and give the Scots a 56-54 win over the Freddies.

The Danville Blue Devils girls basketball team racked up 39 points in the first half to lead Fredericktown by 19 at intermission, and the home team ended up lighting up the scoreboard for 72 points in a 72-47 win over the Freddies Monday.

Redskins pull away from Scots

A Utica spurt heading into halftime carried over into the second half and the Redskins controlled the final two quarters to defend their home floor in a 54-41 win over the Highland Scots.

The Mount Vernon boys basketball team was only behind one, 21-20, at halftime to the Logan Chieftains Wednesday, but the visitors outscored the Yellow Jackets 22-10 in the second half to hand Mount Vernon a 43-30 loss.

Highland runs away from Centerburg

The Highland Scots only held a three-point lead at the break, but the team poured on 33 points in the second half to cruise to a 59-36 win over the Centerburg Trojans in front of a back-and-forth crowd Friday to further extend their lead in the Knox-Morrow Athletic Conference standings.

Redskins eke out win over Whitehall
