Dr. York retires after 38 years

After 38 years of practice, Dr. Richard “Rich” York of Primary Vision Care in Mount Vernon announced his official retirement on Oct. 3, 2017.

Joyce Frazee has been a regular attendee of the Tiverton Grange’s Jitney Supper since she was in grade school, which was in the late 1940s and early 1950s, she told the News.

New urgent care facility opens

As cold and flu season starts to wind down, a new urgent care walk-in clinic will be opening in Mount Vernon. Family Urgent Care, located at 503 Wooster Road, will be open seven days a week, starting May 1.

Allisons say good-bye

After nearly 10 years in business, Allison’s Finer Diner will be closing its doors. They will remain open until April 1, Easter Sunday, when they will close after lunch.
