HOWARD — Phillip E. Earnest, 70, of Howard, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2019, at his residence. He was born Jan. 20, 1949, in Mount Vernon, the son of Raymond and Mary (Gilbert) Earnest. Phil proudly served in the United States Army in Vietnam and worked many years as an over the road truck driver seeing much of the United States.

Phil enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved working in his wood shop and was an avid fan of Archery. Still being a kid at heart, Phil enjoyed electric trains and took great enjoyment in setting up his displays. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his two daughters, Judy (Dearl) Parsons of Columbus and Margi (Chuck) Lee of Debary, Florida; two grandchildren, Matthew Parsons and Katie Lee; two great-grandchildren, Emma Parsons and Haddie Parsons; two sisters, Sheila Shoults of Panama City Beach, Florida, Connie Wells of Mount Vernon and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife Florence (Gallagher) Earnest.

Friends may call Monday, Feb. 4, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050, where a funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Rev. Marvin Haught will be officiating. Burial will follow in Workman Cemetery in Danville.
