LANCASTER — Cory D. Miller, 45, of Lancaster, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2019, of an apparent heart attack while attending the National Wing T Football Clinic in Pittsburgh, PA.

He was born in Zanesville March 26, 1973, to Randy and Jane (Plummer) Miller of Fredericktown. He married the former Jamie George June 19, 2004, and she survives.

He was a 1991 graduate of Highland High School in Sparta; a 1995 graduate of Bowling Green University and was currently a teacher at Lancaster High School and a football coach. He had a passion for football, enjoyed traveling; especially to New Orleans and the Adirondacks.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his sister, Lisa (Steve) Weaver of Bellville; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carl and Krys George of Massillon; two brothers-in-law, Scott George of Massillon and Joe (Sami) George of Macedonia; niece and nephew, Olivia and Jackson George; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins and his dog Sally (his graduate assistant).

Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Smith-Varns Funeral Home, 115 Andreas Dr., Sugarcreek, with Mark Tomallo officiating. Friends may call Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home prior to services.

Memorial services will be held Sunday, Feb. 3, at 2 p.m. at Lancaster High School, 1312 Granville Pike in Lancaster. For those unable to attend, please visit the funeral home’s website to share a memory.
