MOUNT VERNON — Valjean A. Knerr, 92, of Mount Vernon, passed away Sunday, Jan. 27, 2019, at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. She was born April 8, 1926, in Charleston, West Virginia, the daughter of Germaine and Pearl (Cline) Lambillotte. Valjean was a 1944 graduate of Mount Vernon High School and in 1949 earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from The Ohio State University.

Valjean and her late husband, Toby Knerr, have owned and operated Knerr Tire in Mount Vernon for over 50 years. She also retired in 1985 after 30 years as the Mount Vernon Middle School Librarian. Valjean was an active member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, Town and Country Garden Club, Sorosis Club of Mount Vernon and Gay Street United Methodist Church. Valjean enjoyed traveling the world with family and friends and always loved a good game of Bridge and Canasta with her card club.

She is survived by her daughter Leslie (Michael J.) Seibert of Venice, Florida; two grandchildren, Geoffrey J. Seibert of Wadsworth and Emily Sharr Suter of Dallas, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Kailyn, Kamryn, Mirielle and Hank; two sisters, Glendene Hoffman and Mable Thomas, both of Mount Vernon; two sisters-in-law, Joan Lambillotte and Betty Lambillotte; long-time companion, Jacques Everhart of Perrysburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Charles G. “Toby” Knerr; three brothers, Duane Lambillotte, G. John Lambillotte and Donald Lambillotte; two nephews, J.D. Lambillotte and Fred Hoffman.

Friends may call on Sunday, Feb. 3, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High Street, Mount Vernon, OH 43050, where a funeral service will begin at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Karen Oehl officiating. The family will observe a private graveside service in Mound View Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Valjean’s name may be made to the church or charity of one’s choice.
