FREDERICKTOWN — What started out as a blowout turned into the Nick Cunningham/Corbin Hazen show on Friday night.

Both Fredericktown’s Cunningham and Hazen, of Danville, caught fire in the second half, but the Freddies outlasted the Blue Devils 65-55 in the KMAC League slugfest in Fredericktown.

Neither team shot well in the first half as Danville (6-10, 3-7) went 5 of 15 from the floor and the Freddies (9-6, 7-3) were 8 for 30. But then both squads settled down and focused after the break.

Cunningham had three 3-pointers in the second half and scored 16 of his 24 but Hazen repeatedly answered the Freddies with buckets in the paint. He scored 18 of his 22 points in the second half, mainly on shots in the post and many times with two defenders on him.

Dylan James added 17 points for the Blue Devils and Sklyer Moore had 12.

Jake Partington scored 12 for Fredericktown and Lincoln Cunningham had 10.

The Freddies will host first-place Highland Tuesday, with a 6 p.m. junior varsity start. Danville returns to action at home Tuesday against Cardington, tipping off with JV at 6 p.m.
