MOUNT VERNON — Samuel Robert “Bob” Berkey, 86, of Mount Vernon, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2019. He was born in Clearfield, Pennsylvania, Nov. 20, 1932, to the late George and Sarah (Liddick) Berkey.

Bob resided primarily in the Sandusky/Norwalk area and recently in Mount Vernon. He worked for Ford Motor Co. in Sandusky for 30 years. Bob was an avid woodworker. He enjoyed spending time with his family, boating, camping, fishing as well as playing and building guitars. He served his country proudly in the United States Army.

He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda (Smith) Berkey; a son, Robert Berkey; daughters, Kimberlie (Michael) Barrows and Sheree Lippus; grandchildren, Nichole (Jake) Westfall, Nolan (Cristy) Berkey, Logan Berkey, Karissa Barrows, Caitlin (Lance) Walters, Ethan Barrows, Morgan Lippus, Holly Lippus and Spencer (Holly) Lippus; great-grandchildren, Seth, Jamison, Jackson, Pia, Katie and expecting Gage; sisters, Ruth Knupke, Gladys Merrick and Mariella Cheek; and a special canine companion, Reba.

Along with his parents, Bob is preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, Jan. 26, at 11 a.m. with an hour prior of visitation starting at 10 a.m. at the Norwalk First United Methodist Church 60 W. Main St., Norwalk, OH 44857.
