MOUNT GILEAD — The Mount Gilead Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is seeking information in a Wednesday fatal hit/skip crash.

The patrol reports that Amanda E. Cumpton, 34, Columbus, was struck and killed by an unknown, southbound vehicle while she was walking south on Ohio 61 in Morrow County near U.S. 71 in Bennington Township. The driver of the vehicle left the scene and was not identified. Cumpton was transported to Morrow County Hospital where she was pronounced dead, the patrol reports.

Cumpton’s teenage son was walking with her and was not injured, the patrol reports.

Few details are available on the vehicle at this time. The patrol reports that the vehicle is a dark colored SUV or pickup truck, and is possibly a Chevrolet. The vehicle will be missing the passenger side mirror and has damage to the passenger side front fender.
