MARENGO — Noah Roosevelt Lycans, 81, of Marengo and formerly of Mount Vernon, passed away Monday morning, Jan. 21, 2019, at Bennington Glen.

He was born Jan. 27, 1937, in Wayne County, West Virginia, son of the late Gertie (Pratt) Lycans and John Wesley Lycans.

John worked on the railroad and Gertie was a homemaker. They moved to Portsmouth, Ohio, where Noah graduated from high school. Noah lived with and assisted his mother who had severe rheumatoid arthritis. Upon her death he moved in with his sister, Annalee Lycans Hatten, and his brother-in-law, Harry Gene Hatten. Upon Annalee’s death he moved in with his niece, Anagene Loebick and her husband, William C. Loebick.

Noah was also predeceased by three brothers, Yulie, Russell and Vernon Lycans, and his father, all from Kenova, West Virginia.

He loved to read his Bible morning and night. He was a very generous and loving person who brought smiles to everyone who knew him.

Noah spent his last years at Bennington Glen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Marengo, where he was lovingly cared for by many staff.

No funeral services will be held and burial will take place in Bloomfield Cemetery at a later date.
