Moderate to heavy rainfall will produce considerable snowmelt and leading to flooding across north central and northeast Ohio and northwest Pennsylvania today and tonight.
…FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT…
The National Weather Service in Cleveland has issued a
* Flood Watch for portions of Ohio and northwest Pennsylvania, including the following areas, in Ohio, Ashland, Ashtabula Inland, Ashtabula Lakeshore, Crawford, Cuyahoga, Erie, Geauga,Hancock, Holmes, Huron, Knox, Lake, Lorain, Mahoning, Marion, Medina, Morrow, Portage, Richland, Seneca, Stark, Summit, Trumbull, Wayne, and Wyandot. In northwest Pennsylvania, Crawford, Northern Erie, and Southern Erie.
* Through late tonight
* The recent weekend snowstorm contained about 0.5 to 1.0 inches of liquid water. About 0.4 to 0.75 inch of snowmelt is expected today. In addition…rainfall today will range from 0.5 inch near Toledo to 1.25 inch in northwest PA. The combination of rainfall and snowmelt will produce widespread minor flooding from Findlay to Lorain and points east into PA.
A Flood Watch is issued when there is a potential for flooding. Monitor the forecast and remain alert for possible flood warnings. Those in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should a flood warning be issued or if flooding develops.
