FREDERICKTOWN — Ruth E. (Phillips) Wells Coulter, 92, of Fort Myers, Florida, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2018, at the Shellpoint Retirement Center in Fort Myers, Florida.

Ruth was born July 9, 1926, in Fredericktown to John R. Phillips and Naomi R. (Smith) Phillips. She was a graduate of Fredericktown High School and a 1948 graduate of The Ohio State University School of Nursing. Ruth was employed as a registered nurse before working for the VA Hospitals in Dayton, Ohio, Fort Wayne, Indiana and Newark, N.J., where she served as the Head Nurse Administrator.

She is survived by nieces, Karen Davis and Sharon Frye; her nephews, Scott Phillips and David Phillips; and numerous great nieces and great nephews.

Besides her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husbands Elgin Wells and Henry “Tex” Coulter; and her brothers John R. Phillips Jr. and Howard Phillips.

Private family burial will be beside her first husband Elgin Wells at Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown.

The Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown is honored to have been chosen to serve the family of Ruth E. Coulter.
