UTICA — Calling hours for James Curtis Cree, 77, of Utica, will be held 2-5 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 13, at Law-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N. Main St., Utica. A private funeral service will be held. Burial will take place at South Lawn Cemetery.

Curt passed away Jan. 9, 2019, at Selma Markowitz Care Center, Newark. He was born July 26, 1941, in Columbus to the late James E. and Mary F. (Curtis) Cree.

Curt retired from First-Knox National Bank, Mount Vernon as Vice President of Marketing. He was valedictorian at Utica High School, Class of 1959, and later was inducted into the Utica Athletic Hall of Fame. He taught American Government for several years at Utica High School. Curt graduated from Kenyon College where he was a four-year varsity letterman in football and baseball. He was a player and coach for the semi-professional football team, Mohican Raiders.

He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, James “Jace” and Amy Cree, Mike Cree, all of Utica, and Cliff and Jenni Cree of Dover; grandchildren, Ian and Ryan Cree, Cami, Riley and Cash Cree; and many good friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mary Elizabeth Cree.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Ohio, P.O. Box 430, Newark, OH 43058-0430.
