Joshua Morrison/News The first voters in today’s general election were lining up before 6:30 a.m., at the Station Break, 160 Howard Street, Mount Vernon. Poll workers nimbly checked voters identifications and kept the line moving. Polls remain open today until 7:30 p.m.

Joshua Morrison/News Just after sunrise on Sunday, United Aggregates began the demolition of the Office bar, 20 West Ohio Avenue in Mount Vernon. The former bar, where it is rumored that Paul Newman shot pool, was demolished to make way for a new parking lot. Demolition is expected to last a few days. There will be some lane restrictions on Gay and Ohio Avenue as debris is hauled away.
