MOUNT VERNON — Debra R. Curry, 67, of Mount Vernon, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019, at her home surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born Sept. 29, 1951, in Fort Benning, Georgia, the daughter of Sterl and Betty Jean (Holland) Severns. Debra retired from the Village Network of Knox County serving as a youth counselor for over 20 years.

Debra was a member of the Central Christian Church of Mount Vernon and Colonial City Moose Lodge #2555. She was also an avid collector of antiques and primitives.

Debra had a kind and giving soul that always placed others needs in front of her own. She cherished her son Kyle and was a faithful friend to so many. Debra will be sadly missed by her family and many friends.

She is survived by her son, Kyle Curry of Mount Vernon; good friend, Melissa Valentine of Mount Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Stewart, and a sister, Ellen Nelson.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 9, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050, where friends may call from 5 p.m. until the time of service.

Memorial contributions in Debra’s name may be made to the Knox County Humane Society, 400 Columbus Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050.
