MOUNT VERNON — Jo Ellen “Jody” Pillow, age 72, of Mount Vernon, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019, at Knox Community Hospital.

She was born Aug. 6, 1946, in Mount Vernon, the daughter of Nolan “Scuz” and Iris (Gearhart) Overturf. Jody was a 1964 graduate of Centerburg High School and retired from Cooper Energy Services after 30-plus years. She was a member of the Centerburg Church of Christ.

Jody enjoyed reading from her favorite author, John Grisham, and she was an avid Cleveland Indian and Ohio State football fan. Most important to Jody was her family, and she loved the quality time she spent with her children and grandchildren. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend that will be missed by many.

She is survived by her children, Charles Douglas (Kimia) Pillow of Mount Vernon, Debbie (Chad) Kennedy of Mount Vernon and Darla (Mike) Paisley of Cibolo, Texas; eight grandchildren, Tyriss Davis, Jackie (Colin) Pack, Ashley Williams, Trey Williams, Carlie Kennedy, Travis Pillow, Brianna Paisley and Camryn Paisley; three great grandchildren, Corbin Davis, Parker Dustin and Grayson Devendorf. She is also survived by her companion and significant other, Denny Grubaugh.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Pillow, and a brother, John Overturf.

Friends may call Monday, Jan. 7 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon, OH 43050, where a funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Evangelist Roger Crego will be officiating. Burial will follow in Mound View Cemetery in Mount Vernon.

Memorial contributions in Jody’s name may be made to the Mount Vernon Colt Football League or Mount Vernon Girls Softball League in C/O of the funeral home.
