MOUNT VERNON — Odelva A. Coon, 86, of Mount Vernon, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 10, 1932, in Mount Vernon, the daughter of William and Olive (Carpenter) Ridenbaugh.

Odelva retired in 1997 after 28 years of employment with Jeld-Wen in Mount Vernon. She was a member of the Colonial City Moose Lodge #2555, Amvets Post #95 and Veterans of Foreign Wars #4027.

Odelva was a faithful and loyal wife to her husband, Leonard A. Coon Jr., for 56 years and most often where one of them could be found, the other was not far behind. She will be sadly missed by her family and many friends.

Odelva is survived by her two sons; Eritt Coon of Mount Vernon and Brad (Joan) Coon of Mount Vernon; five grandchildren, Corby (Brittany) Coon, Craig Coon, Shad Bevington, Lori (Mark) Briegel and Nick (Kelsey Mulpas) Coon; five great-grandchildren, Camden, Colin, Courtney, Lyndsay and Brooklyn.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard A. Coon Jr., a sister, Bessie Clinedinst and a brother, William “Sonny” Ridenbaugh.

A funeral service will be held Friday, Dec. 7, beginning at 12 noon at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050, where friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
