Allison Glass/News Danville Elementary School second- and fourth-graders presented their annual holiday program “Toys: The Night They Come Alive!” Tuesday evening at the Danville High School auditorium, following the Kindergarten and first-graders Holiday program. The students performed rousing renditions of classic carols, like “We Wish you a Merry Christmas” and “Jolly Old St. Nicholas,” as well as less well known pieces, like “Hip Hop Reindeer.” The students sang, danced and brought toys to life during their sensational seasonal showcase led by music teacher Deanna Bennett.

MOUNT VERNON — One of the most important parts of ringing in the holiday season is taking in the joyous music performances in the area. There is no shortage of young talent in Knox County, as each of the county schools have plenty of holiday cheer to warm every heart leading up to the holidays.

Columbia Elementary: Dec. 11, 6:30-7:30 p.m. grades 3-5 Holiday Program at Faith Baptist Church, 8764 Martinsburg Road, Mount Vernon.

Twin Oak Elementary: Dec. 19, 7 p.m. grades 3-5 Holiday program at the Knox County Memorial Building at Theater.

Wiggin Street Elementary: Dec. 20, 7 p.m. grades 3-5 Holiday Program at the Knox County Memorial Building and Theater.

East Elementary: Dec. 10, 7 p.m. grades 3-5 Holiday Program at the Knox County Memorial Building and Theater.

Dan Emmett Elementary: Dec. 12, 7 p.m. grades 3-5 Holiday program at the Knox County Memorial Building and Theater.

Mount Vernon Middle School and Mount Vernon High School: Dec. 13, 7 p.m. Winter Orchestra concert at MVHS Theater; Dec. 17, 7 p.m. Sounds of the Season Choir concert at R.R. Hodges Chapel at MVNU; Dec. 18, 7 p.m. Winter Band Concert at MVHS Theater.
