Redskins downed in season opener

After holding a seven-point lead after the first quarter of the season, the Utica Redskins went into the locker room down 19-16 and went on to fall to the Cardington Pirates 41-30 in both teams’ season-opener Thursday in Utica.

Students dug the holes for the little swamp oak trees. The trees were purchased by the Shade Tree Commission. Sixty students planted almost three dozen trees in projects around the city of Mount Vernon.
