MOUNT VERNON — Adding electronic smoking devices to the city’s smoking ordinance will be on the agenda for third reading Monday, along with a pubic hearing on the subject at 6:45 p.m.

The measure includes a provision to ban the sale of electronic smoking devices to persons under age 21.

Twenty minutes is allocated for that hearing, followed by a 10-minute hearing on the proposal to vacate undeveloped portions of Ridgely Street and two partial alleys in the Elmwood Place subdivision. That vacation is on the agenda for final approval. Lifepoint Church is planning to purchase the property to build a church on the site.

Also on the agenda for third reading is the ordinance changing a definition in the transient occupancy tax to include establishments with “one or more” rooms, instead of at least five.

On the agenda for second reading is the measure changing parking enforcement in the Central Business District to 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, instead of 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Also on the agenda are resolutions authorizing the auditor to make a number of supplemental appropriations and another authorizing the auditor to make a number of fund transfers.
