MOUNT VERNON — The Mount Gilead Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a two-vehicle, single-fatality crash that occurred at approximately 6 a.m. Thursday on Ohio 3 in Brown Township, Knox County.

Nigel Kelsall, 63, of Biddulph Park, UK, was operating a 2018 Nissan Versa northbound on State Route 3.

Heather Sage, 49, of Loudonville was southbound on State Route 3 operating a 2008 Ford Ranger.

Kelsall went left of center and struck Sage. This impact caused Sage to go off of the right side of the roadway.

Sage was flown to Grant Hospital from the scene and is in stable condition. Kelsall succumbed to his injuries at the time of the crash.

Seatbelts were in use at the time of the crash. Alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be a factor. Left of center is the causative factor in this crash.

Next of kin was notified by a Police Constable in the United Kingdom. The Mount Gilead Post was assisted by the Ashland Post of the State Highway Patrol, Knox County Sheriff’s Office, College Fire & EMS, and Med-Flight.

The crash remains under investigation by the Mount Gilead Patrol Post.
