MOUNT VERNON — Hospice of Knox County is hosting a variety of holiday activities in the next few weeks.

The annual Lighting of the Memory Tree will be held Monday, Dec. 3, at 5:30 p.m. at Hospice of Knox County.

Participants may honor loved ones with an ornament for the tree, and the tributes’ names will be read aloud. Light refreshments will be served. Memory Tree ornaments may be ordered by calling 740-297-5188.

Christmas Caroling and a Soup Supper will take place Tuesday, Dec. 4. Anyone interested in caroling is invited to gather at Hospice at 5:30 p.m. Groups will travel by van to light the Rastin Tower at Ariel Foundation Park. Caroling will continue at patients’ homes, and the evening will conclude with a soup supper and fellowship at HKC.

The annual Worldwide Candle Lighting Service will take place Sunday, Dec. 9, at 5:30 p.m. at Lakeholm Church of the Nazarene, 16001 Glen Road, in Mount Vernon. This event allows parents and family members of children who have died to honor their deceased children, including babies lost prenatally. Attendees may elect to bring a gift to be donated to a local charity.

This event is held for one hour in every time zone to create a 24-hour wave of memorial light across the globe. As candles go out in one time zone, they are lit in the next. If you are unable to attend, you may participate by lighting a candle in your home at 6 p.m. Sunday.

All events are free and open to the public.
