COLUMBUS — The Kenyon Ladies swimming team began their three-day efforts at The Ohio State Invitational Thursday and registered 170 points by night’s end at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion. That total slotted Kenyon in ninth among 11 participants including eight NCAA Division I schools such as OSU and Stanford University.
There was a quartet of performances that resulted in ‘B’ cut qualifying times for the Ladies. The first came during the 200-yard freestyle relay.
Celina German, Hannah Orbach-Mandel, Crile Hart and Emmerson Mirus teamed up for a team-best, 13th-place finish in 1:33.91.
Just a couple events later, Hart notched the Ladies’ best individual mark in the 200 individual medley. The sophomore finished in 14th in the ‘B’ final as she touched the wall in a season-best time of 2:01.03.
Mirus followed with a 32nd-place mark in the 50-yard freestyle. The second-year’s prelim performance (23.57) was slightly better by 0.02 seconds than her finals mark.
Kenyon’s final qualifying finish came in the 400-yard medley relay. Racine Ross, Makena Markert, Abby Wilson and Hart claimed 17th with a time of 3:45.86.
In diving competition, senior Madeline Carlson notched 219.55 points which was good for 25th place and ahead of five Division I divers.
Today, the Ladies continue at OSU with prelims starting at 10 a.m. and finals scheduled for 5 p.m.
