MANSFIELD — Norene H. Carr was welcomed into the arms of her Lord Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2018, at Signature Health Care of Galion surrounded by her family. She was 92.
She was born Elnora Irene Harley on June 17, 1926, to Clarence and Gladies (McClain) Harley in Lima. Norene was graduated from Crestline High School and Mansfield General Hospital School of Nursing and worked over 40 years in Galion and Mansfield hospitals, and retired in 1991 from People’s Hospital.
Norene married Russell B. Carr in 1950, sharing over 60 years together and raising six children. A lifelong church goer, she attended St. Peter’s, Park Avenue Baptist, and Mosaic churches in Mansfield, First Baptist Church in Mount Vernon.
She is survived by her children, Gregory Carr, James (Tisha) Carr, Karen Baker, Julie (Don) Starkey and Susan (Doug) Mill; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Tom Harley; sisters-in-law, Pat Harley and Christine Carr; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; children, Connie Carr, Cindy Carr and Lisa Carr Boggs; siblings, Jack Harley, Patricia McFarland, Donald Harley, Rosemary Heiby and Ruth Harley; her granddaughter, Hannah Oswalt; and her children’s spouses, Bob Boggs, Nancy Carr and Tom Baker.
The Carr family will receive friends Friday, Nov. 16 from 4-6:30 p.m. in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, 2553 Lexington Ave., Mansfield, where a memorial service honoring Norene’s life will begin immediately at 6:30 p.m. Retired Pastor Cal Levine will speak.
