MOUNT VERNON — The No.15 ranked Mount Vernon Nazarene University men’s basketball team (4-0) dominated against the Red Storm of Rio Grande (0-1), winning by a final score of 85-56.

MVNU established a big lead early, and never looked back. =Along with its three point shooting in the first half (7-13), MVNU’s defense set the tone from the start, holding the Red Storm to just 33.0 percent shooting after 20 minutes of play. The Cougars took a 46-23 lead into the break, and would continue to pour it on in the second half. The defensive effort remained strong as the Cougars held Rio Grande to just 33.3 percent shooting from the field for the game. The Cougars also controlled the glass, winning the rebounding margin 43-38.

No.15 MVNU (4-0) will next play Friday at 7:30 p.m. against Olivet Nazarene University in the Homecoming Classic.
