CLEVELAND — The North Coast Athletic Conference announced Monday that Kenyon College junior Philippe Stengel was selected as the men’s soccer Athlete of the Week. It marked the first time in Stengel’s collegiate career that he won the award.

Stengel’s selection was based on his performances in the Lords’ 1-1 tie with Ohio Wesleyan University Wednesday and the team’s 3-0 defeat of DePauw University Saturday. Against Ohio Wesleyan, he scored Kenyon’s lone goal on a first-half header. At DePauw, he assisted Luke Muther on the first goal of the game.

Stengel now has six goals and two assists this season. He’s started all 15 games and his total of 14 points ranks second on the Kenyon team, which is 12-1-2 and ranked No. 16 in the latest United Soccer Coaches national poll.
