CLEVELAND — Based on his performances in Saturday’s season-opening Kenyon College Relays, sophomore David Fitch was selected Monday as the North Coast Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week.

Fitch swam in seven events and won five of them, kicking off the day with a win in the meet’s first event, the 200-yard medley relay. He joined Ben Baturka, Michael Bartholomew and Weston Carpenter to post a meet-record time of 1:32.62. Four events later, he won the 200-yard butterfly relay (1:31.73) alongside Bartholomew, Tommy Weiss and Nicholas Tong.

Fitch’s other three wins came in the 400-yard individual medley relay (3:32.50), the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:24.97) and the exhibition mixed 200-yard medley relay (1:38.82) with Marcus Hong and two members of the Ladies swim team.

In the other two events he swam Saturday, Fitch earned runner-up spots. Those finishes came in the 200-yard breaststroke relay (1:33.77) and 500-yard crescendo relay (4:05.71).
