MOUNT VERNON — Frieda M. Metcalf, 81, of Mount Vernon passed away Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2018, at the Laurels of Mount Vernon. She was born Feb. 10, 1937, in Columbus to the late Floyd and Faye (Satterfield) Shephard.

Frieda was a faithful member of Liberty Chapel United Methodist Church, where she was active with the United Methodist Women.

Frieda is survived by her sons, William (Becki) Metcalf of Mount Vernon, Michael (Pat) Metcalf of Gambier and Ronald Metcalf of Mount Vernon; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and her sister, Brenda Hess of Mount Vernon.

In addition to her parents, Frieda was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph E. Metcalf, on April 15, 2017; her great-granddaughter Haley Boyd; and her sister, Frances Denzien.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of a funeral service at 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 5, at the Liberty Chapel United Methodist Church, 11360 Liberty Chapel Road, Mount Vernon. Rev. Thom Fowler will officiate. Burial will follow in the Liberty Chapel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Liberty Chapel United Methodist Church.
