UTICA — Heavy late-afternoon rains gave way to football, but the Granville Blue Aces (4-1, 1-0 LCL) defense didn’t give an inch. The Utica Redskins (1-4, 0-1 LCL) managed only eight rushing yards on offense, dropping Friday’s Licking County League game against visiting Granville, 40-0.

It was the big plays that got the Redskins into trouble. On the third offensive of play of the game, Granville’s Dominic Varasso ran the ball in from the Utica 37-yard line for a touchdown. Teammate Keegan Van Meter added a touchdown on a 33-yard run later in the opening quarter to make it 14-0.
