MARTINSBURG — A Utica man and teenager were transported by medical helicopter from the scene of a buggy-vehicle crash in Licking County Sunday.

Ohio State Highway Patrol, Granville Post Lt. Aaron Vollmer reported that Abe Gingerich, 20, Utica, and Amos Gingerich, 13, Utica, were transported via medical helicopter from the scene of the crash, which occurred on Ohio 586 at 10:15 a.m.

Abe Gingerich is listed in serious condition at OSU Medical Center Wednesday. Amos Gingerich was transported to Children’s Hospital.

Also injured were Henry Gingerich, 15, and Monroe Gingerich, 18, who were both occupants in the buggy. Henry and Monroe were taken to Knox Community Hospital. A representative of the hospital reported Wednesday that Henry and Monroe are not on the patient lists.

According to Vollmer, the crash occurred when Abe Gingerich was driving a buggy eastbound on Ohio 586. He was rear-ended by a 2016 Chevrolet 3500 truck driven by Denver Untied, 36, Adamsville.

The crash remains under investigation, Vollmer said.
