MOUNT VERNON — A new car dealership is moving in to the old Ross Jeep Eagle Location at 219 Harcourt Road in Mount Vernon.

Diamond Auto Group Sales & Service will hold a grand opening celebration Friday, Sept. 14, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 2 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 15, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Prize giveaways will also be offered every hour on the hour including Columbus Blue Jackets and Ohio State basketball tickets and a grand prize of OSU football tickets for the Sept. 22 game. Food will also be available both days of the grand opening.

“Our focus isn’t on selling cars [during the grand opening], we really just want to meet everyone in the community,” Diamond Auto Group owner Brian Hartney said.

Diamond Auto Group is aiming to be a “breath of fresh air” in the community, according to Hartney. He has spent six years in the car industry and decided to open his own dealership because of his desire to bring his core values: integrity, accountability, family, character and honor, to the car dealership business.

Outreach in the community will be very important to Diamond Auto Group, Hartney said. Giving back to first responders and veterans will be a big part of the business, Hartney said, with “significant discounts” and service contracts offered to these individuals as a way of giving back and saying thanks. Diamond Auto Group also plans to give back to the community in a multitude of ways by getting involved in Toys For Tots and sponsoring local families that need assistance.

Hartney said that his goal is to make the car buying experience “personalized” and stress-free. Though currently a Powell resident, Hartney grew up in a small town like Mount Vernon in northeast Ohio where he was instilled with small town values. This small town upbringing inspired him to bring a business based in small town values to Mount Vernon.

None of the staff, Hartney said, half of which are from Mount Vernon, have previous car dealership experience. This choice was made purposefully, according to Hartney, because he was looking for a staff that was focused on the same values rather than on making a sale.

Hartney also told the News that he wants to help new car owners as much as possible and stand behind the cars Diamond Auto Group sells by offering three month, 3,000 mile service contracts.
