GAMBIER — Josephine G. Strome, 94, of Gambier, passed away Sept. 2, 2018. She was born Nov. 4, 1923 in Mount Vernon to James M. and Mary (Grossman) McMahon.

Josephine was a long time employee of Continental Can from which she retired. She is a former member of the Mount Vernon Country Club, Old Homestead Sunset Club, Gamma Psi Chapter of E.S.A. Sorority. Josephine was the 1955 Sesquicentennial Queen of Mount Vernon. She was an avid OSU football and basketball fan.

She is survived by one daughter, Joan M. (Dan) Omlor of Newark; two sons, James R. Jacobs of Missouri and Jack E. (Terry) Jacobs of Mount Vernon; one step-son, David Strome of Georgia; two step-daughters, Barbara Strome of Georgia and Margaret (Martin) Davisson of Georgia; seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Strome, in 2013; one son, Richard; and by two brothers, Gordon and Paul McMahan.

In keeping with Josephine’s wishes there will be no services at this time. A private burial will take place later in Oak Grove Cemetery, Gambier.
