MOUNT VERNON — Amos J. Yoder, 63, of Mount Vernon and previously of Colon, Michigan, passed away of natural causes Sunday, Sept. 2, 2018, at his home.

He was born Nov. 7, 1954, in Hazleton, Iowa, to Joe C. and Malinda (Miller) Yoder.

Surviving are his daughter, Sharon (Merle Burger) Yoder of Portage, Michigan; four sons, Jesse (Susan) Yoder of Oconto, Wisconsin, Joel Yoder of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Jeremy (Erica) Yoder of Los Angeles, California, and James Yoder of Lexington, Kentucky; seven grandchildren, Ember Yoder, Robson Yoder, Sedona Yoder, Preston Burger, Rihanna Burger, Sabrina Burger and Elena Burger.

He is survived by six brothers, Joe Jr. (Ella) Yoder of Hazleton, Iowa, Christy (Katie) Yoder of Burr Oak, Michigan, Felty (Betty) Yoder of Salem, Kentucky, Andy (Millie) Yoder of Albia, Iowa, Daniel (Ada) Yoder of Lamar, Missouri, Samuel (Mattie) Yoder of LaPlata, Missouri; five sisters, Laura (Henry) Yutzy of Hazleton, Iowa, Anna (Will) Miller of Stapleton, Georgia, Lydia (Harry) Miller of West Union, Mattie (Dan) Helmuth of Hazleton, Iowa, Susie (Noah) Hershberger of Wautoma, Wisconsin; one sister-in-law, Amanda Yoder of Hazleton, Iowa; one brother-in-law, Ben Miller of Independence, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Wayne Yoder; and one sister, Malinda Miller.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 5 with an 11 a.m. funeral service Thursday, Sept. 6, all at Firm Foundation Ministries, 651 E. Main St., Centreville, Michigan 49032.
