LUCAS — The Centerburg Trojans didn’t have an answer for Jeb Grover.

The Lucas running back rushed for 240 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Cubs to a 42-14 victory over visiting Centerburg Friday.

Grover scored on runs of 4, 2, 70 and 61 yards, and added a two-point conversion run in for good measure. He carried the ball just 24 times, good for a 10-yard average.

It was the Trojans, though, who scored first. After a scoreless first quarter, quarterback John Sheasby hooked up with John Wharton on a 12-yard touchdown pass early in the second quarter.

But, that’s when Grover took over, scoring on four consecutive drives for the Cubs.

Centerburg scored on a 1-yard touchdown run by Michael Kuhn in the third quarter to close the gap to two scores. But, the Cubs finished it off with two more TD runs, including a 48-yarder by Kaiden Thomas.

Sheasby led the Trojans with 100 yards rushing on 25 carries. He also completed 9 of 15 passes for 71 yards and the touchdown. Donnell Marshall added 55 yards rushing on five carries, while Stephen Schmitt caught six passes for 47 yards.

The Trojans return home next Friday, hosting backyard rival Northridge at 7 p.m.
