MOUNT VERNON — Sara “Sally” E. Colgin, 80, of Mount Vernon and formerly of Gambier and Warsaw, passed away Friday morning, Aug. 24, 2018. She was born June 8, 1938 in Knox County to the late George and Leona (Hall) Colgin.

Sally is a member of the Burt Avenue Wesleyan Church in Coshocton, where she was baptized and most recently attended the Grove Church of Christ. Sally enjoyed shopping and eating out with her family and friends. She also enjoyed traveling. Sally will be sadly missed by her loving family and wonderful caretakers from Concepts in Community Living and Echoing Hills Village.

She is survived by her sisters, Edie Carton of Powell and Linda (Gary) Flynn of Athens, Alabama; nieces and nephews, Mark (Amanda) Flynn of Columbus, Michael (Kristen) Flynn of Galloway, Matthew Carton of Orlando, Steven (Erin-Mari) Carton of San Francisco, Thomas (Stephanie) Carton III of New Orleans; great nieces and nephews, Connor McKenzie, TJ McKenzie, Morgan Carton, Emersyn Carton and Therese Carton.

In addition to her parents, Sally was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Colgin and a brother, Howard Colgin.

A funeral service will be held Monday, Aug. 27, 2018, beginning at 11 a.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, where friends may call one hour prior. Mr. David Dahlstein will be officiating. Burial will follow in Union Grove Cemetery near Gambier.
