MOUNT VERNON — Propelled by a hat trick from junior Jacket Kim Trapp, the Mount Vernon girls soccer team marched its way to a 6-0 home win Tuesday over Galion.

“It was just the right spot at the right time,” Trapp said of her hat trick.

She got the efforts started early, finding the back of the net in less than a minute to give the Jackets the 1-0 lead. Trapp put her head to good use in the ninth minute, burying a header into the back of the net off of freshman Olivia Reddy’s cross. Trapp was not done for the night, collecting a mishandled Tiger goal kick and scooting the ball into the net for her third goal of the contest in the 13th-minute.

“Kim is a great player. Everybody on the team is a great player and they serve a certain role,” coach Bill Lonsinger said. “Kim scores a lot of the goals for us. There is no secret behind that. But, I was proud of her that once she got that third goal, she was trying to set other people up.”
