FREDERICKTOWN — Citing a lack of display of civic pride, a Fredericktown councilmember put forward a list of ideas for zoning changes aimed at making downtown more presentable.

Councilmember Bill Van Nostrand presented a list of ideas Monday that originated in the village’s safety committee, to be presented to the planning and zoning committee. The list proposes ordinances to cover air-conditioning units and electric meters, address peeling paint, remove non-permanent trash cans from the right-of-way and repair unsafe areas of buildings within a specified time frame.

Van Nostrand said the safety committee would like to see planning and zoning review the list to see if any of the proposals are feasible changes to zoning. He said planning and zoning can make any additions they’d like.
