MCCONNELSVILLE — AMVETS Riders of Post 95 in Mount Vernon hosted a sponsorship poker run June 9 to Benefit the Honor Flight of Columbus. 15 riders rode to the Big Muskie Bucket at Miner’s Memorial Park in McConnelsville.

Friday, Aug. 10, at the regular meeting of the AMVETS Riders 95, a check was presented to Pete MacKenzie, representative from Honor Flight Columbus, a group which provides an opportunity for veterans of World War II, Korea and Vietnam to be air flighted to Washington D.C. to see their respective memorial walls.

One Post 95 Rider, Donald Morehouse, a Vietnam Veteran, had the opportunity to go on an Honor Flight in April of this year. He was so impressed with the experience that it started the initiative of the group to have a fund raiser project for Honor Flight.
