MOUNT VERNON — The Irish Hills Golf Course is slated to host a fundraising two-man scramble to be played both during the day and at night, with nine holes set to be completed in the light, and nine holes to be played after dark.
“I tried to find a combination to make it a full-scale event,” Irish Hills general manager Billy Barbour said. “It’s something that hasn’t been done around here before. It’s going to be fun.”
The event is a two-night, two-man scramble set for Aug. 24 and 25. A field of 36 pre-registered teams will tee off at 6 p.m. at Irish Hills, starting with a shotgun start on the back-nine. After the first nine holes, the competitors will break for lunch, before heading back out to the course after the sun goes down, using flashlights, glow sticks and glow-in-the-dark golf balls to navigate the front-nine.
