MOUNT VERNON — Betty Jo Bockover, 73, of Mount Vernon, passed away Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018, at the Laurels of Mount Vernon surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 31, 1945, in Abingdon, Virginia, to the late Pled and Gladiole (Hughes) Peck.

Betty graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1964 and soon after began her career as a housewife. She was a member of the ladies auxiliary for the Mount Vernon Moose and VFW. Betty was an avid Cleveland Indians’ fan, loved to play bingo and travel to different casinos. Most of all she loved being around her family.

She is survived by her children, Lisa (Kevin Schoolcraft) Bockover, Cale Bockover, Shad (Kati) Bockover; grandchildren, Fredi, Tressel; sisters, Mary Conant, Sue (Brad) Doup; ex-husband and friend, Daniel Bockover; several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her brothers, Danny and Jerry Peck; a niece, Angela Rummel; and a brother-in-law, Chuck Conant.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, Aug. 16, from 5-7 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050, with a funeral service on Friday, Aug. 17, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery.
