CENTERBURG — Hilliar Township Trustee Don McCracken asked the village of Centerburg to consider providing funding for the Centerburg Community Memorial Park at last Monday’s village council meeting.

Hilliar Township owns Memorial Park, McCracken explained, but, citing “funding problems” caused when the Village of Centerburg seceded from Hilliar Township and formed its own township within village limits, cannot continue paying for the park by itself. Until the secession in 2011, taxpayers living in the village and in the township both funded the park. Now that burden falls solely to Hilliar Township residents.
