MOUNT VERNON — As the community enjoys the annual Dan Emmett Music & Arts Festival, the parish of Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church, 100 E. High St., Mount Vernon, will celebrate with Appalachian hymnody in the worship service Sunday. The service, which is an annual offering of Saint Paul’s parish to the Mount Vernon community, will begin at 9:30 a.m., and all are invited to attend. Guitars, fiddle and banjos will take the place of the piano and organ in this service. Several area musicians will participate in the music ministry through favorite hymns such as “Amazing Grace,” “Shall We Gather at the River,” “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing,” “Holy Manna,” “Down to the River to Pray,” “I’ll Fly Away,” “I Saw the Light,” and “Just Over in the Glory Land.”
