MOUNT VERNON — Mount Vernon Nazarene University is set to make history this year with its first ever collegiate men’s and women’s bowling teams, with the kick off coming in the form of a prospect day today.

Ron Garlinger and his daughter Amber Brubaker are bringing the sport of bowling to MVNU. After meeting with the school, the two have agreed to lead a Cougar bowling team, starting this year. Both Garlinger and Brubaker have been around central Ohio high school bowling, having helped propel the sport in high schools in the area and both now coach at Highland.

Because of the growth of bowling at the high school level, colleges have become interested in sporting teams of their own.
