MOUNT VERNON — The Mount Vernon Yellow Jackets boys golf team continued to see its scores drop so far this fall on the way to a 16th-place finish Friday at the Chapel Hill Invitational.

“I am very proud of our effort today, from top to bottom,” coach Anthony Savage said. “We’ve played four tournaments this year now and we’ve lowered our scores every round.”

Jordan Hoag stepped up to pace the Jackets, carding a 77 on the day. Maggie Williams was not too far behind with a score of 79.

Matt Sabula and Carter Carpenter turned in impressive rounds at 81 and 85, respectively. Mason Boatwright rounded out the Mount Vernon golfers, shooting a 96.
