MOUNT VERNON — Three individuals have been arrested in what law enforcement is calling a large scale, organized methamphetamine distribution network.
Arrested Aug. 6 were Lisa M. Poole, 55, Mount Vernon, on charges of complicity to commit aggravated trafficking in drugs, aggravated possession of drugs, and permitting drug abuse; and Nola Smith, 44, on an outstanding warrant. Kristy L. Crawford, 39, has also been arrested and charged with aggravated trafficking in drugs.
The arrests come after a search warrant was served Aug. 6 at Poole’s 600 block East Ohio Avenue residence in Mount Vernon. Prior to the search warrant, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office had been investigating “Columbus area and local dealers” who “were delivering a continuous and significant amount of illegal drugs to the Knox County area,” Sheriff David Shaffer, writing in a August 9 press release, said. The search warrant was the result of an 8-month investigation, initiated by Knox County Sheriff’s detectives, Shaffer said.
The press release states that suspected drugs, paraphernalia, a surveillance system, safes, cash, electronic devices and ammunition were among the items seized in the search warrant.
