MOUNT VERNON — A judge ruled that a search of a Mount Vernon man suspected of having a concealed weapon was conducted legally.

Knox County Common Pleas Judge Richard Wetzel found that a Mount Vernon Police officer had probable cause to search Raymond E. Garrison, 39, on Jan. 23, 2018. Garrison was searched by MVPD Officer Jessica Butler after a bystander informed her he believed Garrison had a weapon under his coat sleeve. The bystander and Butler initially believed the weapon could be a long gun.
