CENTERBURG — The Centerburg girls golf team is under new direction, but new varsity head coach Kathy Compton is no stranger to a majority of her roster.

For the three seniors on this year’s team, Compton is an old coach, as she coached them during their middle school careers on the links.

“It’s really neat. I go to coach them in middle school and now I can coach them again,” Compton said. “It’s just natural. They’ve always been a part of my family per se. We have a great vibe.”

Those three seniors that Compton is looking to rely on this fall are Sophia Compton, Violet Miller and Cynthia Morris. The trio has been golfing since middle school, so they know their way around a golf course.
