MOUNT VERNON — An 83-year-old Mount Vernon man was killed in a motorcycle crash Saturday.

Lawrence H. Huffman, 83, was pronounced dead at the scene of a two-vehicle crash that occurred on Ohio 3 in Monroe Township.

According to Ohio State Highway Patrol, Mount Gilead Post reports, the crash occurred at approximately 1:25 p.m. when Huffman was traveling southwest on a 1995 Honda Gold Wing. Huffman crossed the double yellow center line and was struck by a northeast bound 2015 Chevrolet driven by Raymond P. Cosner, 66, Mount Vernon.

Huffman, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected from the motorcycle.
Cosner was treated on-scene for injuries suffered in the crash. Patricia A. Cosner, 67, and Brooklyn Hinger, 9, who were passengers in Raymond Cosner’s car, were not injured.

OSHP was assisted at the scene by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office and Mount Vernon Fire Department.

The crash remains under investigation.
