MOUNT VERNON — The Mount Vernon golf team is hoping to add another layer to the solid foundation formed a year ago.

The Yellow Jackets finished third in the Ohio Cardinal Conference and just missed advancing to district competition last year. Now, they are looking to build on that success with strong leadership from the top and a large group of newcomers ready for the battle.

“This is another foundation-laying year,” said Mount Vernon coach Anthony Savage. “We’re excited about it and excited about the kids’ enthusiasm. Now, it’s up to the coaching staff to get them the knowledge it takes to take the program to the next level.”
