GAMBIER — The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) announced Wednesday the 300 member college and high school programs that earned the 2018 ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award. Among those 300, the Kenyon College Lords were one of just 77 NCAA Division III programs to be recognized.

To be eligible for the academic award, a team had to have a head coach that is a current ABCA member and had to have members of its 2017-18 roster combine for a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale. The Lords had no problem clearing the minimum, as the 32 members of the 2017-18 team posted a 3.26 grade point average.

In addition to their academic success, the 2017-18 Lords racked up a 16-18 overall record and a 10-8 North Coast Athletic Conference record that was good enough to get them into the conference’s postseason tournament.
