At a press conference Wednesday, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown announced he will introduce legislation to support Ohio’s auto industry and keep auto jobs in the U.S.

The action came in response to General Motors’ recent announcement that it would build its new Chevy Blazer in Mexico, an announcement made on the same day the company ended its second shift at its Lordstown plant.

In the brief press conference between votes in the Senate, Brown said his bill would encourage customers to buy American-built cars and would close a loophole in the Republican tax law that encourages auto manufacturers to close domestic auto plants and ship jobs out of the U.S.
